What kind of laboratory?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The main objective of this laboratory is to provide guidance and research development based on students’ interests, and through twice-weekly seminars, we aim to nurture individuals with broad perspectives who can play an active role in society. This year, Professor Takatama and the other members are working together to explore agent technologies that will change the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advantage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Aiming to devise usable technologies and to develop Japan-originated technologies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our motto is “Let’s do research with impact. Let’s make something good”. To this end, we are exploring truly useful technologies through joint research with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI), and other national organizations, as well as numerous companies, and are aiming for world-leading results from research to development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this effort, our students are working on the development of an intelligent space probe \\”rover\\” and satellite from Japan, as shown in the figure below. This project aims to cultivate system design skills required in society and to develop intelligent miniaturization technology needed in the space industry and many other industries, and is conducted every year by rocket launch experiments in Nevada, U.S.A.2 In 2009, the students developed a satellite called ARLISS, which was launched by ARLISS in the United States. In 2009, the rover developed by the company won the first prize at the ARLISS world competition. In 2009, the rover won the world competition called ARLISS, and was invited to an international conference called IAC2009 in recognition of its achievement. In 2010, the small satellite UNITEC-1, which we developed with JAXA’s satellite AKATSUKI, was launched In 2010, we launched UNITEC-1, a small satellite developed by us, to Venus together with JAXA’s AKATSUKI satellite. This is the world’s first university-developed satellite to be launched to Venus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, through this project, our laboratory is achieving student education in the creation of useful products and exploring technologies that can be transmitted from Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
